Creating your skincare regimen
If you are new in your skincare journey and trying to figure out what to use and when to use it, here is a step-by-step guide to get the most out of your at-home regimen.
Step 1. Cleanse - Use a cleanser best suited for your skin type. (double cleansing is a great way to better remove dirt and debris for a more thorough cleanse. Using a different type of cleanser for the second cleanse like a glycolic cleanser, can help correct different type of skin conditions.
Step 2. Exfoliate- Using the proper exfoliant helps resurface and buff and polish the skin. Exfoliating removes the top layer of dead skin which helps improve texture, tone, reduce the appearance of fine lines and can make the skin brighter. This step should only be done 2-3x a week. Do not over exfoliate as this may damage the skins barrier.
Step 3. Tone-There are a few different types of toner that can be used. One type of toner may contain Hyaluronic acid, aloe or fat water that focuses more on hydrating the skin. Another type of toner may have a more alcohol base, that focuses more on tightening the pores and is used as an astringent. Toners can be sprayed on the face or onto a cotton round. This helps remove any residual dirt after cleansing. It also helps prep the skin for serums to allow for deeper penetration.
Step 4. Serums - Serums are a great addition to any regimen. They are smaller in molecular structure to get deeper into the skin, and allow the active ingredients in the product to work more effectively.
Step 5. Moisturizer -This is the last step. These products protect the skin and seal in all of the moisture. It assist with the prevention of water evaporating from the skin and helps protect it from the element.
Step 6. Sunscreen - This step is very important. If you have oilier skin, depending on the make of the spf, this can be used in place of a moisturizer. The Ultra sheer SPF by Skinscript Rx is the perfect sunscreen with a good amount of moisture. A “broad spectrum” sunscreen is ideal, as it protects the skin from UVA & UVB rays. Using an SPF is necessary when it comes to protecting your skin from the environment. If you are trying to reduce the amount of hyperpigmentation you have, melasma or sunspots, or fine lines and wrinkles, using sunscreen year round is imperative to achieving great skin results.
